Here’s a thought experiment, a little game, for [both of] qb’s readers.

Try think of a single question that a member of the White House press corps might ask that would be likely to elicit a response from the president along these lines:

“Your question pertains to matters outside my personal knowledge and official purview, and so I don’t believe it would be appropriate for me to respond to it.  Next question?”
