Put Up or Shut Up

8 February 2009

Larry Summers is quoted as chiding the Republicans for their opposition to the so-called “stimulus” bill:

“Those who presided over the last eight years, eight years that brought us to the point where we inherited trillions of dollars in deficits, an economy that’s collapsing more rapidly that in any time in the last 50 years, don’t seem to be in a strong position to lecture about the lessons of history,” he said.

Memo to Larry Summers:  If you really believe that, then just pass the bill without Republican support, which you do not need.  Just think:  if it works, you and your Democrat colleagues will get ALL the credit instead of having to share it with the GOP.  It’s called governing.

(Methinks he doth protest too much, and for good reason!  It would appear that many Americans are starting to have second thoughts themselves.  Three months too late to do any good, but…)
